FROM JASON'S BLOG:

I have found that the best thing to do when dealing with this crazy level of insanity is to follow Action Jackson’s advice and stop for a moment. Take a breather. Go for a walk. Meditate. Make a cup of tea. Whatever it is you do, allow yourself five to ten minutes so you can decompress and formulate a plan of attack….”  Read more here.

What is your vision?

I recently had a surreal experience: after years of hard work, I realized that Changing the World 101 had grown into the organization I dreamed it would become. During the 2011/2012 school year I will be working with thousands of students to help them become the type of leaders our world needs. Along the way I gained the privilege of becoming an advisor to non-profit organizations and social businesses around the world.

And when I realized this, something spooky happened: my motivation vanished.

Instead of jumping out of bed and feeling like pure electricity, I was struggling to do even the most basic tasks required to keep Changing the World 101 running.

After a week of sub-par performance I unearthed the problem: I had no vision.

When I started Changing the World 101 I had grand dreams of how the organization would look. As the dreams slowly developed into reality I forgot to replace the old dreams with new ones. I had nothing drawing me forward to inspire bigger and better goals.

I learned that the foundation for accomplishment is vision. A clear vision of where you want to be as a leader and an individual is essential because it will help you make the right decisions to smoothly guide yourself and your organization to greater heights.

So I reconnected with my dreams. I took time to dream bigger for both myself and for Changing the World 101. By creating a new vision, I found new motivation.

Are you at some sort of turning point in your life? New job? Job hunt? Beginning a new school year? Then take an hour or two to think about how you want it to look and feel. Think about what you want to accomplish both personally and professionally.

Here are a few prompts to get you started:

  • How much money/what sort of grades do you want to make?
  • What are your plans to give back to your local and global community? (Hint: if you want to give back globally, start volunteering locally and expand your efforts over time)
  • What do you want from your social life?
  • What sort of shape do you want to be in physically?
  • Where do you want to travel?
  • What new skills do you want to develop?
  • What additional visions do  you have for yourself? For your community?

Pick a few questions and envision maximum success for yourself. Really feel this vision and let it guide you forward. From here, all you need is persistence.

As you translate your dreams into reality be sure to avoid the mistake I made: keep expanding your dreams to stay inspired.

And one last tip - dream big! Most of the time, our achievements are limited by our imagination. If you can't picture yourself volunteering in Honduras, then it is incredibly unlikely that you'll ever begin volunteering in Honduras.

All great accomplishments start as an individual's personal vision before they play out in reality.

2011/2012 Campus Programs

Are you a campus leader or higher education administrator? Do you want to empower your students to shape their campus, local, and global communities? If so, I can help.

The Changing the World 101 seminar gives students all the tools they need to get involved globally. New for the 2011/2012 school year is a comprehensive follow-up system to make sure that students have a complete road map for international action at their fingertips after the live campus event.

Escape the Matrix and Lead gives students a clear path to leadership. First, they learn how to confidently see further and dream bigger. Next they master the super-powers of a modern leader that they will use to translate their dreams into reality and effectively build better communities.

Both CTW101 and Escape the Matrix are designed to be entertaining catalysts for change. To explore a program for your campus shoot me an email at: Jason@changingtheworld101.com with a good time to chat or call me directly at: 617-925-0107.
